FASTNET - Fastnet Mussels Ltd.

Fastnet was established in 1984, initially concentrating on growing and selling fresh mussels for export. In 1990 Fastnet built a depuration and holding facility, enabling it to process harvested mussels. Through successful R&D the company has diversified into the production of value added products; pasteurised mussels in sauces (white wine, garlic butter), cooked crab claws, lobster tails, oysters and periwinkles. They have worked on a number of nationally and EU funded research projects including investigations of turbot and scallop farming and biofouling research. In ORION Fastnet’s team is lead by Mr. John Murphy (the Managing Director). Mr. Murphy has a variety business interests and has a firm background in business research including a Diploma in Strategic Management Development from the Humber Business School in the UK and an MBA from University College Dublin.
