DOM - Daithi O’Murchu Marine Research Station

Operating since 1991 Daithi O’Murchu Marine Research Station became an independent research station in 2005, having previously operated as part of University College Cork’s Aquaculture Development Centre. Dr. Julie Maguire joined at this time to work as Research Director. The station’s research focuses on aquaculture and fishery production efficiency, and developing marine technologies to apply in other industries. It has on- and offshore facilities for hatchery, breeding and ongrowing work across a number of species. Research work at the station is steadily growing and has included consultancy, commercial trials and co-ordination and participation in a number of EC Projects, including the coordination of a number of Framework 7 projects.
